====== Mortgage, Barrack Norman to Samuel Stevens, 76 Acres of Land in Dorchester ====== **Barrack Norman** To **Samuel Stevens**\\ Mortgage South Carolina To all to whom these Presents shall come I **Barrack Norman** of St Georges Parish in the Province aforesaid Blacksmith send Greeting Whereas the aforesaid Blacksmith **Barrack Norman** in & by his Bond or Obligation bearging ''[sic: bearing]'' ''[%%___%%]'' date with these Presents is become held & firmly bound unto **Samuel Stevens** of the Parish & Province aforesaid Planter in the final Sum of One Thousand & Eighty two Pounds ''[£1,082]'' good & Lawfull ''[sic]'' Money of the Province aforesaid, condition for the payment of the Sum of Five hundred & forty one pounds ''[£541]'' like good & lawful Money of the said Province with lawfull Interest for the same from the date thereof at Eight percent pr annum ''[8% per annum]'' on or before the Thirteenth day of October which will be in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred & Fifty one ''[13 Oct 1751]'' Now Know Ye that the said **Barrack Norman** for the better securing the payment of the said Sum of Five hundred & forty one pounds & interest, which shall grow due thereon according to the condition of the said Bond or obligation & also for and in consideration of the further Sum of Five Shillings like lawfull Money aforesaid to him the said **Barrack Norman** in hand well and truly said by the said **Samuel Stevens** at & before the Ensealing & delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is freely acknowledged & the aforesaid Saml ''[Samuel]'' Stevens his Heirs Exors ''[Executors]'' & Admors ''[administrators]'' thereof & of every Part & Parcel thereof acquitted & forever discharged by these presents, Hath Bargained and Sold & by these Presents doth Bargain & Sell unto the said **Saml Stevens** all those Negroes, Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Household Goods and Tools &c ''[etc.]'' herein Mentioned a Negro man named **Pompy** one Ditto named **Venture** a Negro Girl named **Satyea** A Mouse coloured Horse white in his face named Toby branded SS a White Horse name Swan brand T five maces and their Increase five Colts & a young horse all branded ''«symbol "BN" with backward 'B'»'' all said **Norman**'s Cattle Viz Three Cows & Calves and a Heifer and their Increase one young Steer all branded ''«symbol "BN" with backward 'B'»'' & marked a Crop and a half Crop in one year & a Slit & under keel in the other Nine head of Sheep & their Increase, five Feather Beds & Furniture, two Wool Beds & all Household Furniture & Kitchen Furniture all Said **Norman**'s Smith Tools and Plantation Tools and all his personal Estate not named, Also all his Real Estate being Seventy Six ''[76]'' acres of Land, bounded on the North on the High Road Northeast on Madam **Ann Boon**'s land & Southeast on land formerly **Nathan White**s South & West on Land belonging to **Ralph Izard** Esqr. Provided always & it is the true Intent & meaning of these Presents, that if the said **Barrack Norman** his Heirs Exors or Admors shall do well & truly say or cause to be said unto the said **Samuel Stevens** his Heirs Exors Admors assigns aforesaid sum of five hundred & forty one pounds good & lawful money of the province aforesaid shall do well & truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said **Samuel Stevens** his Heirs Exors & Admors or Assigns aforesaid Sum of Five hundred & forty one pounds good & lawfull Money of the Province aforesaid. Together with all such Interest Money as shall be due & owing thereon at any time on or before the Thirteenth day of October which will be in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred & Fifty one ''[13 Oct 1751]'' without and Deduction Defalcation or abatement whatsoever Then this present Bill of Sale to be Paid & of none effect or else to remain in full force and virtue.
