Moses Norman to Francis Holmes Senr deed of sale

To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know yee [sic] that I Moses Norman of Berkeley County Cooper [River] for and in consideration of the Sum of three hundred pounds [£300] in good and lawfull [sic] of the promises aforesaid to me in hand before the ensealing hereof well and truly paid by Francis Holmes Junior of Charles Town in the same County of Berkley and province aforesaid merchant the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied and contented & [trust? surest?] and of every part and parcel thereof do exonerate, acquit and discharge the said Francis Holmes his Heirs, Exors [Executors] & admors [administrators] for ever, by their presents have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed and by their presents do freely fully and absolutely, give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto him the said Francis Holmes his Heirs and assigns for ever one parcel or Tract of Land Scituate lying and being at Beech Hill in Colleton County Butted & Bounded Eastwardly on land of Joseph Smith & John Simmons, Northwardly on land of William Gibbons, southwardly by land of Roger Sumner and westwardly on land of said Moses Norman containing by Estimation three Hundred [300] acres be it more or less to have and to hold the said Granted and Bargained Premisses with all the appurtenances Privileges, and commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Francis Holmes his Heirs and assigns for ever to his and their only proper use benefit and behalf for ever. and I the said Moses Norman for me my Heirs, Exors, admors do Covenant, promise and Grant to and with the said Francis Holmes his Heirs and assigns that before the Ensealing hereof I am the true, sole & lawfull owner of the above Bargained Premisses and am lawfully seized and possessed of the same in mine own proper Right as good perfect and absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple & have in myself good, rightful power and lawfull authority to Grant, Bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm the said bargained premisses [sic] in manner as abovesaid and that the said Francis Holmes his Heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times for ever hereafter by force and virtue of these presents lawfully and peacefully and quietly have, hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy the said Described and bargained premisses with the appurtenances free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted, Exonerated and Discharged of from all and all manner of former and other Gifts, grants, Bargains, sales, leases, Mortgages, wills, Entails, Jointures, Dowries, Judgments, Executions, Incumbrances, and entreats. Furthermore the said Moses Norman for my self, my Heirs, Exors, admors do covenant and Engage the above Described premisses to him the said Francis Holmes his Heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims or Demands of any Person or Persons whatsoever for ever hereafter to warrant Secure and Defend and Rebekah Norman the wife of me the said Moses Norman doth by these presents freely, willingly, Give Yield up and surrender all her Right of Dowry and power of thirds of in and unto the above Described premisses unto him the said Francis Holmes his Heirs and assigns In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the twenty third Day of November in the seventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God King of Britain France and Ireland and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Twenty. Memorandum that on the 27 day of July 1720 [27 Jul 1720] Moses Norman did quit possession of the premisses within mentioned Deliver unto Thomas Waring and John Simmons for and in the behalf of Francis Holmes Senr within mentioned to hold the same unto the said Francis Holmes Senr his Heirs and assigns for ever according to the former effect of the within Deed —- in the presence of %

Personally appeared before me John Barksdale Esqr one of his Majesty's Justices for the said provence Joseph Smith and being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God did declare that he was present and did see the within Bill of Sale Signed Sealed and delivered by Moses Norman and Rebekah Norman wife to the said Moses and by them delivered to the uses therein mentioned and this Deponent also declares that he with Samuel Summer [sic: Sumner] and Job Chamberline did Subscribe their Names as Witnesses of the same and also to the delivery of quiet possession.
