-A Grant bearing date the twenty third day of July, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eleven ''[23 Jul 1711]'' signed by the Honble. ''[Honorable]'' Robert Gibbes, Esqr. ''[Esquire]'' the late Governor of the late Lords Proprietors of this Province, and Charles Hart, Samuel Eveleigh Thomas Diston and Charles Burnham, Esqrs. the late Lords Proprietors Deputies; for two hundred and twenty five ''[225]'' acres of Land in Colleton County, on the north side of Combehee ''[sic: Combahee]'' River, bounding to the north east on a swamp and on all other side on Land not then laid out, granted under the broad Seal of this Province, unto James Bates, his Heirs and Assigns, under the yearly rent of one shilling per hundred acres as by the said grant appears which said two hundred and twenty five acres of Land was afterwards conveyed unto Anthony Spencer, by a certain Deed under his hand and seal which was lost and destroyd ''[sic]'' in the Indian war; but the said Anthony Spencer has been in the possession thereof this twenty years and upwards, and is still in possession thereof and is hereby required to be registered by me the said Anthony Spencer, the grantee, in pursuance of the Act. +A Grant bearing date the twenty third day of July, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eleven ''[23 Jul 1711]'' signed by the Honble.
