-In the Name of God Amen the Twenty Second Day of April, in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred fifty & Six [22 Apr 1756] I Gideon Couturier of St. Stephens Parish Planter being Sick in Body but of good health and Perfect mind & Memory thanks be to Almighty God therefore and calling to remembrance the uncertain State of this Transitory Life and that all flesh must Yield unto Death when it shall please God to Call Do make Constitute Ordain & declare this my last Will & Testament in manner and form following Revoking and Annulling by these Presents all and every Testament & Testaments will and Wills heretofore by me made & declare either by word or writing and this to be taken only for my last Will and Testament

-And first being Sorry from my heart for all my Sins most humbly desiring of Almighty God forgiveness of the Same, I give and committ [sic] my Soul unto Almighty God my Creator Saviour and Redeemer in whom and by the merits of Jesus Christ I trust and believe Assuredly to be Saved and to have Remission and forgiveness of all my Sins and that my Soul with my body at the General day of Resurection shall be returned when my body shall rise again with Joy, and through the merits of Christs death and Passion Possess and Inherit the Kingdom of Heaven prepared for his Elect & Chosen and my body is to be burried [sic] in such Place and manner as it shall Please my Executors hereafter named to Order and Appoint And as for the Settling and disposing of my Temporal Estate and such Goods Chattels and Debts as it hath Pleased God to bestow upon me.  I do Order give bequeath and dispose of the same in manner and form following that is to Say

 First I will and my Will is that all the Debts and Duties which I owe in Justice Right to any Person or Persons whatsoever shall be paid & fully Satisfied within Convenient time after my decease by my Executers hereafter named
-Item I do Order that my two Tracts of Land in St. Stephens Parish one Tract containing two hundred [200] Acres the other one hundred [100] in the River Swamp be purchased in my Name that is to say my Executors hereafter Named shall get out Grants for the said two Tracts of Land Afore mentioned, and then shall dispose of the said two Tracts of Land to Sale in the best manner as my Executor shall See fit
